Helping Our Youths Develop Communication Skills For The Future

This website is dedicated to the radio operations of the W7MHM radio club that works in association with the Military Heritage Museum located in downtown Punta Gorda, Florida.

The Military Heritage Museum contributes to the ongoing education of  students of all ages by providing onsite history and STEM learning experiences through a wide range of learning methods as well as online learning opportunities.

The radio club provides live radio demonstrations at the Museum and offers our youths the opportunity to speak on ham radio at least once a week. The radio club works closely with the Museum management to provide a unique experience for the children and all visitors who come through the museum. Read More

ANNUAL ARMED FORCES DAY CROSSBAND TEST (10 May 2025)

From Donald Kumpost
:

Annual Armed Forces Day Cross Band Test 2025

To All Ham Radio Operators-

The Armed Forces Day Cross Band Test will be held on 10 May 2025.  This annual event is open to all licensed amateur radio operators.

For more than 50 years, military and amateur stations have taken part in this event, which is an interoperability exercise between hobbyist and government radio stations.  The AFD Crossband Test is a unique opportunity to test two-way communications between military communicators and radio stations in the Amateur Radio Service (ARS), as authorized in 47 CFR 97.111.

These tests provide opportunities and challenges for radio operators to demonstrate individual technical skills in a tightly controlled exercise scenario that does not impact any public or private communications.  Military stations will transmit on selected military frequencies and will announce the specific Amateur Radio frequencies monitored.
